Sorry guys for the huge lag in the blog. Got very busy as life turned up to be, after 2009 completing my MBA, I was hit by recession & I was out of mind & time to write something sane.
In between pushed in some essays which I wrote for the job applications :P
Took more time for me to come up with the next article as you know , now being a recruiter, policing is my new job profile; hope my fellow recruiters will understand.
Got 3 days of break, & here I’m with the new article.
Sorry for the Title with a Gimmick, I hate titles coz they bind you & stop the flow.
“THE REAL THING STARTS HERE”
If you are thinking I’m going to lecture on Religion & Spirituality, on the eve of Janmashtami, then fortunately or unfortunately, you guys are wrong. Though what I’m gonna talk about, is purely scientific, though it was been foretold by the man who came to earth on this date of the year.
Atmabodh i.e. self consciousness or I’ll call it as CONSCIOUSNESS is nothing but being conscious.
Let’s start the talk with this video”
As you can see that everything comes down to electrons & most of the surroundings is nothing but space & everything is a wave.
If you think while observing due to light waves the electrons behave as a particle, then you can drop the idea, as we or the observer don’t emit light & the second thing is even if we consider this is due to any light source then due to light waves there should be more interference.
So, when you are not looking at the screen the screen can be anywhere & when you see it YOU WANT IT THERE.
To confuse you more got another video:
My class 8th tuition teacher long back told me bout an experiment. A Rabbit mother was separated from her “kids”, was on the surface in an experiment facility & was wired from the brain. Her kids were far apart & kept in a submarine below the ocean. Each time a kid was killed the CRT or the monitor flickered.
Confusing!!!
Let’s take a turn & talk about something else something more tangible.
In an experiment some athletes were made to sit & completely wired from head to toe, were told to imagine that as if they were running. Bingo!! ! Their body reacted the same way if they were really running on the tracks; muscle contraction, breathing, heart beat etc were the indicators.
We know that 70% of the human body & the world are made of water & just watch below how our thoughts affect water:
It works, it has worked for me, very personal & can’t tell ya at least on the blog.
Throughout history “religion” [not the so called] has told us to have good thoughts....
Even preachers Like Jesus, Ramakrishna & philosophers like Vivekananda has told us the same “Monei Boddho Monei Mukto” = “Bound in the Mind & Free in the Mind”.
A small Introduction:
Forget bout clichéd things; consider Richard Branson, Dhirubhai Ambani & at least JK Rowling.
Now here is the catch!!!
See everyone is telling bout money, success god knows what else.
Do you know that our brain process 14billion bits per second & you know how much a regular person is conscious of? Only 2 thousand bits.
What happens if we wish to wish for another wish as ALADIN did; what happens if we believe that we can use our 100% brain not the 10% we usually do. To be conscious of yourself or the 14billion bits that your mind is processing every second.
Check out this Flick
Even certain movies have already depicted many quant theories like the Source Code, Matrix, Oxford Murders or the Chaos Theory...
Read Losing my Virginity & you will have more faith.
(job-hunting is equivalent to hunting a tiger....:D, no time for posting. but recently for a job application I had to write an essay,...here it is)
Before concluding directly, whether teachers are still role models to their students or not, I’d like to describe the importance of 2 words in this topic “teachers” & “role models”.
A teacher can be anyone (it can even be the Nature), from any background, from any social status & can be of any age. The person is not superior to the students rather she/he is a friend or a guide. Knowledge was never the point, which is more irrelevant in today’s hi-tech world; there are enough sources like the internet, e-book, TV &, of course, books. Then what’s the need of the existence of a teacher? A teacher is one who helps a student to open-up, know what’s her/his strength or weaknesses are & most importantly, a person who can make the students receptive. The critical job is to make the subject so interesting that the students take the initiative & it becomes effortless for the students to study the subject as they become interested in it. Just make the students think & make them interested, that’ll be all, and they will automatically refer books & the internet.
By role models, in this case, I don’t mean a successful person in the profession; otherwise Sachin Tendulkar & Celine Dion has to be the teachers. I remember what Gandhi or Vivekananda said about a role model; a person will always do a great thing in life as every dog will have his day but, a great person will do the smallest things with great care; i.e. if you have to judge a person then, see his day to day activity; how he talks, how he behaves with his subordinates etc.
Now, how teachers can be role models? Before that I would like to state that every word we speak or gestures we make is a transaction; thus, to be role models we should check whether the students really, want us to be role models or at least they are receptive or not. As we all know the basic grains of behavior are sowed in a person’s life when she/he is small (within 5 to 6 years of age) & thus, called the formative years. Thus, small children can be easily molded as their bag of experiences & preconceived notions is less heavy, but still with older boys or girls a teacher can of course make a difference by questioning & logic.
Teacher can be & should be role model because it’s not the knowledge but, the attitude, personality, behavior & view towards life that make all the differences, for example in an economics class all the students are studying economics & if we see the curriculum then we’ll find that all are capable of doing it & that’s the reason all are in the same class! Then, why some get 90% & some get 40%? Why this huge gap? The reason I don’t know but, certainly, it is not all about knowledge or intelligence. One more thing we may consider that the person who is getting 50 may become more successful in life than the person who is getting 90, later in life. There are thousands of examples like Richard Branson, who was a school drop-out, but what he is today? For knowledge gathering there are better sources like the internet but, for the life force or attitude we need a teacher, a role model.
We “still” need a teacher because only the shell has changed not the core. We used to travel by train but, now we travel by flight. Yesterday there was no internet, no e-book but, today we have them. But, as stated earlier they can only provide knowledge & not attitude & there’s the point we still need teachers to role models as knowledge is not the point but, attitude is. In today’s competitive world how to use & where to use the knowledge is more important than the knowledge itself as knowledge sharing has become cheap, easy & abundant. To know how to & where to use the knowledge one has to live the subject, for which one has to be interested & that can only be done by a teacher.
I can give you a life example, I was no student of economics earlier, I graduated as an engineer in electronics & communication; but, in my economics paper during MBA I got 21, & 23 was highest scored by an economics graduate; so, it’s crystal clear it’s not the book but, the teacher, it’s not the degree but, the teacher.
Why a book can’t be a role model? Because it’s lifeless it misses the personality & that’s why now, when we read a paragraph of Hitler’s speech it seems bogus but, when the man stood on the podium & delivered the same, however insane it is, it moved crowds. When Vivekananda said “My dear American brothers & sisters…” at the parliament of religions, he couldn’t speak for 3 minutes due to the claps & praises, but now you read the same it doesn’t have that essence. The reason is simple the personality (the Role) is missing now. So, we come to the same point; personality is the key. A teacher can be knowledgeable but, she/he has to come down to the student’s level, she/he has to see the subject from their eyes & angles. It’s a two-way process, it may happen the way a student is thinking the teacher has never thought that way; it may also happen that nobody has ever thought that way in this way knowledge can flow & can be fresh rather than being stale & stagnant.
A role model shows the attitude, personality & gives immense strength & teachers are at the most advantageous position to mix with the young minds & impregnate the ideas of glory. It’s still important, as still the day is of 24 hours & still a child complains why he can’t tell a lie!
THIS VIDEO WAS SHOWN AT THE FRESHERS WELCOME 2009....A HOPE FOR THE COMING FEST ... FEELING NOSTALGIC & HOPING FOR THE FUTURE AT THE SAME TIME ... ALL THE HARD WORK NEEDED AT THE BEGINNING & THE TASTE OF SUCCESS AT THE END AND THE FUN ALL ALONG.... I'M REALLY OBLIGED TO MADHURIMA & ARPAN FOR TAKING THE PAIN TO COLLECT THE MATERIALS & REVIEW THE VIDEO... I just composed it ...that's all.
First let me give you my introduction; like how did I landed up in doing HR. From the very childhood I was attracted towards Indian Mythology. In class 6th I got interested in Magic tricks & doing them... (you don’t find the connection? it has a connection & i.e. doing extra-ordinary things with your inner-power, yoga & meditation; but, in that small age it seemed to me as Magic). In class 7th I got interested in Palmistry, Numerology & stuffs like study of the Pyramids (there was an interest in me to know the "Unknown"s of this world). These (you may say) esoteric inclinations led me to what is called Hypnotism then, I started reading Psychological books like BORN TO WIN. I thought that this is my place & I’m very comfortable at this; I started practicing & exercising Hypnotism & succeeded in hypnotizing some of my friends. Then there was one more Turn in my life which affected me the most. The story goes like this that my father was sent for a workshop, in IIM Joka, on personality development under the guidance of Mr. S. Chakravarty. My father didn’t like it at all, but he brought all the study-materials given to him; a lot of Big & Fat books, some notes & a small & thin book (costing 4 INR, in 1999) by SWAMI Vivekananda. What I knew about the Swami at that point of time, that he went to America & became very popular after that. One day the book was in front me Named “Work & It’s Secret”, in a flash I thought let me try it & find out how he became popular & the trade-off was also less i.e. the book was very thin; lets give it a try !!! My life changed; there was no magic in it but simple truths, so simple that we overlook them in our daily lives. I started reading him, psychology, yoga, hypnotism, meditation, translated Sanskrit scriptures like “Viveka Chudamani” & Gita. I was doing all these not at the cost of my studies; me & everyone around me were more than happy with my results. In 11th I started with Osho & started reading Tantra, Tao & Zen. I also dealt a little bit with Bible too. So, before I gave my Board exam in 12th I had already made-up my mind that whatever I do, I would never become an Engineer or Doctor; as those were typical Bengali dreams. Every Bengali Parents & thus, (no choice left) boy/girl wants to be a Doctor or Engineer. So, what should I take up for my graduation? The immediate answer was Psychology. I searched for collages & courses of psychology in India. I even planned what I’m gonna take up as my masters; criminal psychology as it’s a mixture of psychology, analysis & observation.
“One More Twist”: somehow due to circumstances (destiny, whatever) I had to take up B.Tech in Electronics & Communications. Though, I didn’t like it at all; digital & networking was not to bad but, I hated analog as HELL. After initial cursing, I understood cursing is of no use & I’ve to clear these 4yrs & that too properly. I got a first class but, that was not all to it; I found out that I’ve learned a lot in that engineering environment: my analytical skills & reasoning wre sharper & clearer than before, I know a lot of computer Hardware, software & internet stuff (though not in my course but, in hostel I learned about them practically) & a lot of experience of how to survive in this world (hostel teaches you that).
But, the inner-flame for Psychology was still there & I got a way out ----- HR. This will satisfy my “Psychological” need, my B.Tech Degree won’t be in vein & satisfy my emotional need of “interacting with People” (I love to do that).
But, now came the toughest part of the whole; people who know me said after doing B.tech don’t go for HR & more over it’s a female job --- I had to make them understand it’s not like that at all; people who don’t know me---I had to prove them that I’m not taking Finance not because I can’t handle it but, I love HR.
That’s not all but, a trailer of the whole movie which is yet to be released. If you want to know more you’ve to contact and meet the actor & that’s me. I can assure you this movie will break all the box-office records & if you want to produce it you are always welcome.
